Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine
Today I went to Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine in Kyoto, finally. It was nice, and afterwards I had curry for dinner (and strawberry cake), plus I did a little shopping. Oh, and I fell in love with this cute cat at the shrine. It only meowed when I was there but it was scared of me. I wish I hadn't eaten all of my food at lunch because I would have given some of it to the cat. :( On the way home I sat by this really nice grandma who talked to me the entire time and was so happy that she could talk to me. She was so sweet and even though I didn't understand all that she was telling me (she was talking a lot about Japanese grammar), it was nice.

All the torii are so pretty! And the kitty looks... kind of mad, lol, but they often do. That curry looks tasty too. :9

Thanks for sharing the pics! :)

I only walked for part of it, then got tired and turned to leave.... which made me run in to the kitty. haha The curry was good but I like it with more veggies. Oh well, it was filling and warm :)

I hope you are feeling better (I read your entry on the train but couldn't comment).

I didn't walk the whole thing because it was cold and I was tired, but it was really beautiful. Japanese curry is great but I like it with more veggies. Oh well, it was still filling!

Well, I rarely post on your LJ, but I can't resist to comment on this post.

Ahh, fushimi inari taisha! How much I love this place. It has this certain magic feeling on it, with all those red toori and yes, cats!

Really want to go back there again, but muri kamo....

It does have a certain feeling... I loved looking at the trees and nature as I walked along.

I hope one day you can go back!

Ah. I wanted to go to this place so badly when I was in Kyoto but it wasn't on the itinerary unfortunately. ;_;

And the cat is so cute! (But then, all cats are cute to me. ^^)

I love cats too! I wish I could have a pet. ;_; It's too bad you didn't get to the shrine but there is so much in Kyoto it is hard to fit it all in.

It's really easy to get to. From Kyoto station take the JR Nara line 2 stops. The place is right in front of the station. It was too easy.

That cat is so sweet and the weather looked perfect too - as did your strawberry shortcake, I loooove strawberry cake! Thanks for taking us with you to Kyoto. *hugs*

The weather was nice, except for the whole cold thing (it did warm up a little though, so that was good). Strawberry shortcake is my favorite dessert. Ever. It's so good.

Cuury + cake = yummy!

I still need to go to that shrine! I always forget to go when I go to Kyoto!

Sounds like you had a nice day!

The curry wasn't nearly as good as your aunt's sadly. Granted nothing is that good. But curry and cake is a nice match, even if I rushed the end of the cake so I could take the easy train (meaning no changes).

You should go - you don't have to walk much to see some of it.

I love how the cat just sort of blends into everything ^^

I like your photos! The first one I think is my favorite :)

Thank you for sharing! The cake looks so yummy! XD

The cake was pretty good but I wish there had been more strawberries (*greedy*). The cat did blend in well, it took me a while to find the source of the noise at first.

I wanted Coco ichiban curry so bad but there wasn't one in the station. I was going to eat a sub from Subway but it was crowded. lol I also had curry at school today. Yum!

You should come back for sure and see some of the things you missed! Plus we can hang out again!!

oh bex, this is random, but I was wondering what other programs you applied to when you couldn't go to Japan through JET? I am currently considering going to japan for a year due to circumstances possibly ruining my hopes of going to med school next year (mostly my fault as well).

Sorry to hear about med school -_-

There are lots of ways to find jobs - one of the best is through ohayosensei (http://www.ohayosensei.com/). It's a list of almost all of the teaching jobs in Japan. It gets updated twice a month.

You can also look at gaijinpot or Dave's ESL Cafe and find jobs. Dave's ESL Cafe should have jobs all around the world, not just in Japan.

I currently work with Interac. I randomly found this site over the summer when I was looking for some information on visas. It might be helpful

Haha, lurker-me is back again...'cause I love your pics of Fushimi-inari (ok and the curry...)! I was there too, a few weeks ago, and saw the cat too (ok fine, it probably wasn't THAT cat, but still...). lol It was a nice surprise to hear "nyao" among the gates, ne?
And damn you, I sooo want curry now.

Thanks! Fushimi-inari really is pretty - I'm glad I caught it while the leaves were still changing. It was pretty cool to hear the cat, although the one I saw was off the path with the gates.
I so want curry now too even though I had it Sunday and Monday (it was part of the school lunch).
