Recent movies
I mentioned in another post that I've been watching a bunch of movies and stuff lately. And, I got bored in the car on the way home from work, so I typed up brief reviews of the movies I've watched recently.
It’s weird because back home I used to go to the movies a lot and I would rent movies all the time. That is one thing I miss. I can go to the movies here but it is so expensive (1700 yen) and I usually can’t go on the discount days (1st of the month and Wednesdays) because of work.
Ocean's Thirteen: I loved it as much as the others. The chemistry between Pitt and clooney was great and my favorite scene was the Oprah bit followed closely by all of the Mexico stuff.
I am Legend: I like horror movies even though aliens tend to scare me. Not always though- I was more freaked about Signs than War of the Worlds or Alien. Anyway I am Legend was pretty good and Will Smith continues to impress me with his acting. I really liked how they changed New York and made it look so desolate.
Underworld: it came on TV and I was bored. It was ok but the acting was kinda stiff a lot and I felt no attachment to any character.
Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life: I watched the first one on TV last year I think. Anyway I used to play the games back in the day and loved them. Too bad my data got erased on 3 of them and I could never work up the energy to try again. I took a break in the 4th and never picked it back up. Anyway this movie was ok for what it is. I don't take it seriously and I find Chris Barrie from Red Dwarf to be hilarious.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: I watched this movie in theaters but wanted to re-watch it. It reminded me how much I liked the 3rd movie (my favorite book is #2). The tone was perfect and I loved how Cuarón handled the dementors. It also reaffirmed my love for the twins and Rupert Grint.
3:10 to Yuma: I have been in love with Russell Crow for years. He is an amazing actor and so ruggedly handsome. The movie is actually pretty good and some of the actors are pretty funny. Christian Bale is a bit dull but Crow is beyond awesome. And hot.
X-Men 3 (The Last Stand): I watched it more to finish off the series than anything else. I was mad at the lack of gambit (jerks! Josh Holloway would have been so hot in that role) and I really didn’t care for most of the characters. Parts were cool and I wouldn’t mind having a bunch of McSteamys (aka Eric Dane) around.
Fantastic Four: another one that came on TV so I watched it. It was pretty boring mostly and I never really read about the fantastic four so I couldn’t even compare differences. Chris Evans, the guy who played Johnny Storm, was nice to look at, at least.
Eventually I will write about some of the books I have read recently.
