Work ramblings
It's amazing how much work I can get done when my adult classes get canceled. I've already done a bunch of stuff on my list. I love most of my adult classes (obviously not all), but not having to teach and prepare for them gives me more time to think about the kid’s classes - the ones that my boss loves to tell me are more important. Obviously they aren't so important seeing as he doesn’t give me time to prepare for them. Well, I take that back, I have time after work, before work, on the weekends. If I just stopped having fun I could have all the planning and preparation time I need!

Thankfully there are a lot of resources on the internet or else I would have had a nervous breakdown trying to do all of this on my own. I seriously wonder what my predecessors taught the kids. Vocab week in and week out? No phonics for sure.

Back to doing more preparations so I can spend my free time tonight doing what I want.

Better than I was last week - that's for sure. I just wish I had more time to do stuff for work, but that isn't new. I think knowing that it will be halloween soon is helping - Halloween = easy lessons.

How are you holding out?

Word.

Yesterday our kids head teacher asked me to have a meeting with her and went to look at my schedule, and then she was like WHOA. Um... you don't even have time for a meeting. I didn't realize you teach so many classes.

;_; Like, DUDE, what do you think I've BEEN DOING? I get a break every now and then, but I need to eat (when I can manage to squeeze in some lunch) and prepare. Lately, I never get home before 10:30. Work ends at 9:00.
I know mine is a special situation (being the only foreign teacher is unusual), but god, it's exhausting.

I am the only teacher in my company. Work sucks yo.

How many classes do you teach a week, just out of curiosity.

Mostly I teach 30 classes a week (which is over my max allowance, so at least I get a bit of overtime pay). Of those, 12 are kids classes.
Except for the rare case, classes are 50 minutes, so I theoretically have ten minutes between classes to get things ready for my next class. That's if I'm not helping students with their homework or answering questions.

Ahhh..... I see. Do you have to plan the lessons or is that done by the company?

A mix.
We have lesson guidelines (well, for MOST of the lessons, anyway), but I have to create the material, decide on games (for the kids), and of course tailor things to my students, because the guidelines just don't really work for most people. Each class has it's own atmosphere and personality and things need to be altered accordingly.

I know what you mean about all of the clases being different. I have two adult classes that were at the same place when I got here. But now they are way off because one class is chatty and the other class says next to nothing. I always make the adults tell me what they did over the weekend and in one class its always "I went shopping. I bought a shirt." and that's it. Apparently they are the most boring people ever.

Are you kidding? I love it when my teacher stop me before leaving on Friday afternoon and hands me a stack of 120 conjugation tests to grade and asks me to have them done by Monday because the kids have midterms starting Wednesday! Weekend work time is fun time!

And now you know why I stayed up grading tests, haha. Bitterness increases my procrastination. Though in all honesty, I stay up late anyway even though I shouldn't, so it wasn't that huge of a deal. I'm glad you FINALLY got some free time in your schedule, though!
